The body of Private Nathan Bewes has been
returned from Afghanistan, accompanied by
three of his mates from Brisbane-based 6th
Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment.

Private Bewes, 23 was killed by an

During a solemn and poignant
ceremony attended by family
and dignitaries, Commander, 7th
Brigade, Brigadier Paul McLachlan
noted that Pte Bewes was “a warrior
with a true heart and a sense of

Private Bewes earned eight medals
from service in East Timor and his
first deployment to Afghanistan.
He was the 17th Australian to have
lost his life in Afghanistan.
